Hello, I have finally got my 440 Dart Sport on the road. I have been asking questions about it / working on it for about five years Here are the basic specs: 75 440, Holley SD intake, Schumacher Headers, 3" exhaust and a MP .450-.455 cam. Engine is stock as far as I know otherwise. Car has 3.55's and is a driver with a couple of strip passes a year. I am running my "loaner" Eddy 600 on the car. It is the carb that always works etc. I think most car guys have one. About how much HP am I giving up by running this carb compared to a 3310-750 or my Thermoquad? Put another way, what should I gain by running something else larger? I know 440's are CFM hogs It runs well for the most part, and the car is pretty snappy, but I know I am leaving alot on the table. Thank you, ROB

A TQ would likely work well. I like Holleys, so I'd go with a 3310 Holley 750 V.S.

I will say that it is pretty "snappy" as it sits. For a guy who has only driven a few 5.0's and a lightly modified SBM here and there, it is quite eye opening. You go from working to get the tires to break loose to the opposite. I drove it about 12 miles the other day and it had a small tranny leak so I pulled it and replaced the seal. It is my intention to drive this thing a few times a week. I do work about 35 miles round trip away, so I'd like some type of MPG. It is definately a smiles per mile now. I was sitting on the couch with a sinister smile laughing under my breath and my wife asks me what was wrong 440 smile honey, 440 smile Thank you for the ideas. I hope to get my Thermoquad on there first, after I get everything going.

I am going to dig through my Thermoquads this week at some point and get the numbers. They are all Smog style, with one being a bit earlier. Today we finish the transmission install, and tomorrow we ride. I am hoping to drive it to work later this week, It is important for the kids to see the fruits of the efforts. I am a HS shop teacher. They all really like the old car, but don't really have a frame of reference for it. We grew up seeing these things But to them, they largely equate it with the Dukes of Hazzard or something. One asked if I was going to weld up the doors. I wish my Dart Sport was a 68-70 Charger! More news later. ROB

Love that!! Now take her for a ride. Mine gets mad because she's torn between hitting me or holding on to something!! Can't do both BB A-bodies are a blast to drive! Oh yea...my choice would be a well tuned 3310(vac sec 750 Holley)
