I want to take out as much play as possible in the (Steering) Gear Box. How do you do it properly, I want to eliminate as much play as possible.

There is a procedure in the factory manual. There are two parts you need to do. The onse adjustment is easy to get to. If anything, here is a bump.

it can only be adjusted so much , if you have a lot of free play the only way to fix it is to replace it , i adjusted a worn durango box and it actually made the thing dangerous to drive .

Tighten it a little at a time. If the steering wheel won't self center easily then you've gone too far. Just remember power steering will have slop with the engine off. BTW is your shaft coupler sloppy or tight?
