So my brake bleeder fittings are 38 years old and won't budge. I just put a new master cylinder on my Challenger and we found a non-working wheel cylinder on the drivers rear, and now the front brakes can't be bled because the fittings won't budge. Any wrench we have put on them just try to round off.

Does anyone have any advice? I'm trying to get this thing done to drive to the Nats, we've worked for months and I'd hate to think of a tiny brake bleeder fitting to prevent me from going.

Thanks in advance.

Brad

Chuck everything if it 38 years old and replace it with new. The line on my Dart looked good but I cut it open and was rusting from the inside out. As important as the brakes are don't skimp now.

Yup. Replace it all.

But, if you're in a pinch, grab a deep-well 6 point METRIC socket that ALMOST fits the bleeder (snug) and drive it on with a hammer. Then sheer it off (I mean drive it off ).

That works for me.

disconnect brake line and drain fluid.use a small map gas torch and slightly heat around base of fitting.touch an ice cube to the bleeder for about 20 seconds.get a good bite with vice grips and tap with a small brass hammer.counterclockwise.OR file on bleeder until you can slide a good 6 point socket or boxend wrench onto it.standard or metric.tap with a small brass hammer.

I do plan on replacing with new, but temporarily to make it to the Nats I was hoping to get it going without major construction.

I was afraid to heat it up, but that idea might work plumkraz1.

Thanks for the ideas. Keep them coming!
