Has anybody managed to get a stock windage tray to clear the rods in a 408 small block with stock rods?

Yeah, I just built a 408 out of a 360. The 360 was a windage tray 4bbl motor from the late 70s (cop car?).

I used eagle rods (I beam, not H) and it was all good. The only difference is the cap screws instead of nuts and bolts, I think.

Close, but doesn't hit.

If you use ARP main stud kit, part number 240-5501, four of the studs are long so you can mount the windage tray lower. The longer studs allow you to sandwich the tray between two nuts allowing you to lower/raise the tray to where you want it. You should have the block line honed if you switch to the studs though.

Thanks for the reply's guys but this thing is all together and I think my buddy will make a doorstop out of the tray before he rips the engine down and spends another couple of bucket loads of cash on it.
