A friend has a 2005 neon 2.0. He replaced the worn upper and lower torque mounts but is now experiencing cabin vibration. To me it doesn't seem excessive for a 4 cylinder but I don't know what is normal for these. Are there any TSB's regarding this? Are these prone to vibration? Solutions? thanks

I believe there are 4 mounts total. Did he change them all?

No, only the torque mounts. i had made suggestion of that but before we go chasing our tail I just was checking to see if these have a "normal" amount of vibration. It's an AT so when the engine is loaded up with AC and the fans kick in it becomes more pronounced.

I would check the other mounts to make sure they aren't letting the engine get out of position. If the other mounts aren't too bad, then try loosening up the new mounts and moving the engine around to see if the vibration goes away.

The mounts have slots rather than holes that allow for a limited range of positions when torqued down. A floor jack under the engine helps.

Master, again and still

Probably the right side mount...Have him sit in the car, running with it in gear, CAREFULLY with a floor jack, put a small amount of upward pressure (1/2 inch or so) on the right side of the oil pan.
This will take the pressure off the right frame mount. If the vibration goes away the mount is bad.
It would be very unusual for the left side to go (trans side) but the same test applys.
While on the oil pan, be carefull not to crush the oil filter.
