My 2002 dodge dakota R/T v8 5.9 is getting fire to the coil but no fire is coming out. Does anyone know why any help would be greatly appreciated.?

When my 96 did that I was the sensor in the distributor.

Yes it send the signal to the coil. First time it happened it drove me crazy tracing it down. Mine was a 3.9 v6 so I'm not sure it's the same but it's worth cehcking. It's listed as a distributro pick up. Can you do the key dance on a 02 and get the codes?

Yes and I also have an OB2 computer. Thanks for your input. We just went to Advanced auto parts and picked up a coil pick up. I will let you know if it fixes it.

That part didn't work when I check my codes it flashes 12 times do you know what that means. Thanks

It said random misfires and an o2 sensor but it was probably caused from whatever happened to the truck. It started to lose power and miss real bad before it died and never started back up.

No real data here, but have heard that magnum coils like to weaken and crap.

did you try the sensor that is on the bell housing I think its the crank position sensor..that will keep it from firing.
though you should start with the basics, when was your last tune up? is your cap and rotor still good? Do you have a msd system?
