Anyone use MickeyThompson-Sportsman Pro tires?
Opinions?
Are tubes REALLY required?

i ran a set of 29x15.5x15 on 12 rims on the street 14 months with no tubes

ran about 18#psi max 20psi

they are soft and wear fast for street driveing, but do wrinkle up and handle med to high HP levels on the street.i would drop them to around 12psi IIRC

went to the M/T sportsman SR radials, they have been on the truck 2 yrs and still look new(no burn outs)

SRs is much better on the wet road, the pros like to hydro plane at a much lower speed.

the M/T sportsman is same as a pro but a longer lasting rubber compound for street use, they like to hydroplane also.

the SRs have been at some good speed in the wet and no hint of hrydoplaning so far.

this is all on my shortbed truck lowerd and tubbed.

I run a set on my 440 Scamp. They are a great tire on the street. I run street class at 12 flats down the track with this tire. But I run tubes in mine. If you plan on dropping the tire pressure below 18 psi, they recommend tubes.

i have them, no tubes and they've been ok. wore out real fast so next time i'm gonna try the radial. according to a MT tech i talked with, the sportsman require a tube because they leak air.

I had a set on a 65 mustang for 10 seasons street strip and sold the car the owner said he still has them on , they are almost bald but still hook good . no wet traction of corse. i think they lasted so long because i only did a hand full of burnouts on them .
