Hello,
My daughter and I just bought a 1970 Challenger. Although it is in great shape, someone rattle-canned the door panels and other interior parts with cheap paint. It is flaking in some areas, dripping in others, and looks pretty bad. Is there a way to strip this paint off? What would you suggest?
Thanks!

Lacguer thinner also works. I've used it on Challenger panels. Works well and doesn't harm the plastic...

I've also heard that dot 3 brake fluid would do the trick.

I've taken many door panels to the chemical stripper (like you would use for stripping paint and rust from sheetmetal). Works great. Chemical doesn't affect most plastic. Door panels, consoles, inner fender splash shields, etc. My only caution is that most chemical stripping places are used to working with metal so you will need to ask them to be more careful to not get knocked around.
Find a place that specializes in stripping furniture and they are more careful.

I've also had some stripped with soda-blasting.
