1bad318 OP 1bad440 Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 1,751 jacksboro,tn	just got dads satellite running,but the ballast is getting hot when the key on.what causes this? i put a new one on and a new voltage regulator,it was also charging wide open and the alternator is getting hot.please help!

stumpy I Win Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 32,930 Grand Prairie,Texas	Ballast hot enough to burn your finger is normal. It is a resisetor and creates heat just like a toaster. That is why it's mounted in a ceramic holder.
