Those with '69 383-440's that are running the stock A/C setup....what belts (size, part # etc) are you using for the AC/Alt?

Not a direct answer but when buying belts for an unknown setup I measure with a length of 3/8" rope and buy the closest belt from my friendly autoparts store. Then install and test. It will be close. If it doesn't fit, I exchange for a slightly longer or shorter belt. Usually it takes two tries.

Another approach - I bet NAPA and/or Autozone still list those belt applications. If you are running a 100% stock setup you may be able to simply tell the counter guy make, year, model and options and get the correct belts.

Autozone link. Still a good idea to make a rough measure with rope for a check.

The reason I ask this question is that I actually have tried 2 different sets of belts with the same problem....

I have the set of the Quanta repro belts since last season. I have heard horror stories of these belts stretching so in case I bought another set of Good Year replacements.

Fast forward to this season...checking the belts I felt the AC/alt belts were "looser" than last season...that & the fact that I am at the end of the adjustment on the alt bracket made me decide to swap out the repro stuff for the Good Year replacements because I knew I would be driving the car more this season (hopefully).
Go to put the AC/Alt belts on & what do you know...even WORSE (looser) The belts are 61" long.
Went ahead & ordered up a set of 60.5" belts...no good too short.
Took the lower alt bracket off & elongated the adj slot till almost the end of the metal & finally got the belts fairly tight for my liking.

So my question was what size/type of belts are others running & do they have the same problem as me?

I asked for parts mopar part#s on here before and took them straight to the dealer and got them. They had one in stock and had to order the 2 you are talking about.I just dug them out.I have 2- BOO13601,BOO13441,and a BOO13361.This is for a 70 RoadRunner with AC.The BOO13601 should be the one you need. They are mopar belts with mopar and parts #s seen on the side when spinning, but I am sure not correct for concourse aplications.Check with your local dodge dealership.

Thanks! Question though. i have had the Mopar belts before when I didnt have the AC set up on it.
The 2 numbers before the last digit indicate the length.
13601 is a 60" belt
13441 is a 44" belt
13361 is a 36" belt.

If your A/C belt is only 60" long, then you must be running the compressor with the 5 5/8" smaller pulley (pulley is flush with the clutch)
I have the larger 6 5/8" pulley so I believe those belts wont work for me.
Can you confirm your a/c clutch pulley?

I measured across the front of it and it measured 5" roughly.

This is the larger clutch off my car....440's had this one mostly although I have seen the smaller one on 440's as well.
383's mostly got the smaller size

Small on left... larger on right...
