Look at the transmission side of the crankshaft. The large but shallow hole in the center that "centers" the torque converter is where this roller bearing fits. The trans input shaft will extend PAST it into the smaller hole in the crank, but its not a problem. The roller bearing needs to be pressed in full depth.

I got it machined to fit in the crank fits snug now

There is your problem , the crank is not machined correctly for the 4 speed application, you have to trim the end of the input shaft because the input shaft is bottoming out in the end of the crank , cut 1/4" off and you should be fine .

okay, so i got it in. i don't know what the problem was but i took it down one more time and went to put it up and it still came to that little gap and i just kept wiggeling it and it finally went in. But now i have another question. I'm 19 and not all sure about welding but know people that know how to. If i were to just silicone and pop rivot the 4 speed hump in would this work?? or do I HAVE to weld it??

That would be ok , I drove a duster around for years with it just loose on the floor, came in handy when the shifter would jam

Rivets will work, but be sure to use some sort of sealant to keep water from coming up and soaking the carpet. Automotive seam sealer is the best choice. You can get it in a caulking tube from an auto paint supply store.

Maybe you should start a thread about that and state what year and model car you are working on ?
