I am blowing the dust of my 70 roadrunner restoration and need to install the engine, tranny and front suspension. I like the idea of assembling all on a stand and install as a unit into the car. Problem is I need to find some plans or reference pictures to fab the stand. Can anyone provide me some direction for this.

Thanks

I did it using what i had. I put the front of the car up on jack stands as high as I could. I had the motor mounted to the K-frame with the tranny installed. Using a cherry picker I put the K-frame on a ATV/Motorcyle jack and the back of the tanny on a floor jack in front of the car. I rolled both jacks under the car while holding the front of the car high enough with the cherry picker(chain attached to the bumber bolt holes. Once the motor and tranny where resonably in place, I lowere the car back on to the jack stands. Then I rolled the cherry picker into place, hooked on to the motor and picked it up supporting the tranny with the floor jack. Aligned the K-frame holes amd installed the four bolts the the tanny cross member. It was the easiest install I have ever done. I am sure I have pictures I will try to find them and post them later.

Good luck and be safe. Whatever way you do it, you will like going from the bottom.

I made a stand to support my motor/trans/K-frame to install from underneath but I also had my 68 RR on a lift which made it much easier. I made it about 3 feet high to allow working room underneath. I used it once then passed it on to a friend for his car. Regardless of your shop set-up you will like how easy it is installing from underneath.
