I seem to have a engine that likes to shake valve cover gaskets loose. I'm just wondering which ones do most people recommend, rubber, cork, or combo?

I like the hard rubber ones with the steel core to prevent overtightening. I have a set on my daily driver that has yet to drip a single drop of oil or require any maintenance on the bolts.

steel core is nice, but I use wetherstrip adhesive to glue to cover with any type, so they don't slip

depends on what V/C, the steel core is not going to work on stock or stamped covers

For that combo I prefer the Fel-coprene(the cork neoprene hybrid) with ARP studs

Felpro rubber-cork works best for me. I use Permatex spray adhesive to glue the gasket to the vc and install. I tried the super thick type once and they leaked badly.
