I Currently have Dougs on my 414 stroker in my '74 Duster, but they aren't letting it live up to it's full potential. It's doing 7.17 in the 1/8th right now, but I'm sure it can get better. The heads flow 300 (verified by 2 reputable shops) with 2.055/1.65 valves. Cam has 257*@.050 and just over .600 net lift at the valve. The exhaust ports on the heads are larger than the header tubes, so I KNOW the headers are a restriction (1-5/8 tubes). So now I'm considering some bigger headers. A couple of people have told me not to get the TTi 1-3/4. I'm looking at either the 1-7/8 TTi's, or the Hedman Hustlers. The hedmans have straight 1-7/8, or 1-7/8 stepped to 2". So should I get:

1) TTi 1-7/8 (non step)
2) Hedman 1-7/8 (non step)
3) Hedman 1-7/8 to 2" step
4) Other.

Not a big difference in price between the Hedmans and TTi's.

Thanks,
Dave

I know the Hustler Big blocks are fenderwell style. The have some issue's but are ok for race only deal where you have no real need to turn the tires much LOL
But I see no reason to run fender well headers for a small block car. The TTI's I have run were very well made.
Raised Port Indy head RB
and early B 426 Hemi
They fit like a glove.

Ask a few questions to the manufacturers... whats the
primary length and the collector length... with the
cam I dont see it being a high reving engine so I wouldnt
bother with the step headers .... you will most likely
need a primary about 33" and a 3.750 dia collector
with it being about 17" long... these numbers should
be CLOSE .... if you want to PM me I can run the
engine through my header program

I have the 1 7/8" with a 3 1/2" collector Hustlers on my Dart and love them. Only ine tube goes through the fenderwell on each side. I've had TTIs and the Hedmans are a ton easier to install.

What oil pan are you running? The Hedmans don't work well with a pan that has kick outs.

I have a Charlies pan. It doesn't kick out. So far, it seems that most I've spoken with agree on the Hedmans. The 1-7/8 with the 3 1/2 collector is one of the sets I'm considering. I don't mind cutting the inner fender for a tube.

One thing to keep in mind with the TTI headers is,though they fit nice, they make comprimises in performance to get them too fit.I have Hedman 1 7/8 headers on my Challenger with a small block, and one tube on each side still goes out of the fenderwell.I think the main reason is to get all the tubes to fit in a way that does not include sharp bends as soon as they exit the flange.Look at some TTI headers and you will see a lot of tight bends right off the head, but they do fit the chassis nice.
