I have a .533 purple cam that we ran in my friends 70 RR. the car ran high 11's, and I am putting most of that motor together for my 69 Charger. thinking with 3.23 gears, and AC its gonna be too much cam. was thinking going with something in the .480 lift area. has anyone run this cam on the street?

Duane

You can run it but don't expect anything but a sluggish pig. That cam is 270something duration@.050 and needs lots of compression, convertor, and gear to work decent. Dave

typical purple cam...big duration, min lift. go with a modern cam...like from hughes..i had a huge improvement w/ my swap.

way too much cam for 3.23's. Try the summit 488 cam. Pulls a lot of vacuum and will work w/ 3.23's as long as you have a little converter. Otherwise he might want to try the mopar 474 or 528 solid.

I ran one for years and really liked it street strip! 4000 stall 38oo lb and it went 12.0s consistant and went as good as 11.86.
Later put it in another 440 3000 stall degreed it at 103 and it work great.

We ran 11.60's with the cam in the 70 road runner with 4.56's and a 3800 stall converter. with flat top pistons with 4 valve reliefs and 915 heads, Im looking to get something with a little over lap to keep the static compression down. Think im gonna run the .484 lift purple cam. with a 108 lobe seperation and 241 duration at .050 I think it will work pretty well. Anyone need a .533 cam?
