My 68 Chrysler is leaking from the pinion seal.
I have the drive train out so now is the time to fix it. I have seen this a couple places lately. The general concesous is to measure the break away torque first. I just read in a mopar mag that this is only needed in the 489 cases. 741 and 742 supposedly do not have a crush sleeve. Anyone know for sure what is in my New Port? It is the 68 741.
Thanx.

Here
Preload is needed in 489s, just zip your pinion nut off and replace the seal in your 741.

there is a torque value for the pinion nut, I can't seem to commit it to memory but it will be in the shop manuals if you have one. I can check it when I get home from work if no one else chimes in before then

Thanx I was mainly concerned about the crush sleeve.
