Since its April and were in shooting range of the drag racing season what is goin on with Gateway and Midstate. I heard that the Moroso buying gateway was a bunch of BS. I know there are countless roomers going around but does anyone know anything for sure??

Thanks

Gateway
Dover pulled out and left the tax burden to the landowners.
So there are taxes to be paid (2.5 mil)?
Why would anyone that wanted to buy the place want a tax burden right off the get go. So that means no new owners. I would imagine once the taxes are paid then maybe we will see someone step forward OR if the taxes dont get paid, well who knows what will happen then.
So for now it is closed.

Midstate
Now it is called Central Illinois Dragway
Bought and owned by Bob Gibson
They have a new website www.centralillinoisdragway.com

i agree the 2.5 will be paid or at least a pro rated portion if there is a deal done on getting the taxes lowered ,
moroso group / pook /wolter trying to get a deal done, but until there is public pressure for them (STCLAIR CO. tax commission), they will only pro rate out the tax unknown if this enough to 'get the deal done ' noone knows yet , they stated 120 days or by july ( they didnt really say if the 120 days was this year or next?) hahah lol
but as you can see, there has been no pressure from the public / racer community to make this commission move on a complete overhaul of the tax base , not just for gateway , but for all the buisness
in that area,

as for midstate, it was purchased by bob gibson and will run nhra,

there is a new track MARPARK by troy mo.that has been much talked about , rumored , wich i do believe will be built later this year,
a new 1/4 mile facility,
ground has not been broke as yet, but i believe that it soon will be
this is at this time our best hope in the st louis area,

Midstate just picked up IHRA sanctioning this week I believe. I really wish I had an IHRA track around here. They have a great program for the bracket guys.

Midstate was NHRA last year but over the winter went IHRA and now that Bob Gibson has bought it went back to NHRA!
