I received my plate and brackets from Mancini. I was planning to weld the brackets to the frame rail and drill and bolt to the motor plate. Has anyone tried bolting the brackets to the car as well?? Mine is a 69 Dart/RB. Any preferences on how these go in?? Thanks, Lon ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shruggy.gif)

I think the most professional way to go is to use Rivnuts in the top of the frame so you can bolt the brackets in place. Welding is okay if it is a dedicated race car and you aren't going to regret welding on the frame.
You can also use a nut plate, or run a bolt thru the frame. Either way works but they aren't quite as clean as the Rivnut approach.
I used the Rivnuts/Nutserts from McMaster-Carr on mine. Had some reservations of welding to the frame rail. Other people said the inserts would pull out, not strong enough, etc. My theory was,, the insert goes clear through the 2-3 metal thickness in that area, and the welding would only contact the top metal..? I have had no problems with pulling the inserts yet As far as having the brackets behind the plate,,you can set the motor back a little farther with them in the front, and with the Rivnuts, you can unbolt them to get them out of the way when pulling motor or moving motor forward to remove trans...

[Make sure your frame brackets are BEHIND the motor plate so you dont have to go up and over the brackets when installing the engine EDIT also use at least 2 bolts per side so the engine and frame rails dont pivot... that stiffens up the front end
Can't you pull the water pump and remove the plate instead of lifting the motor up and over the brackets?

Mr.P -Body is right.... My motor plate brackest are in front of the plate. With studs in the water pump,it's real fun trying to manuver the engine over the brackets. Now that the engine is out,the brackets are going behind the plate.

I put it in as a assembly... I try to do as little as possible to the engine other than put the headers on and the small junk ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif)
