I am running a Autozone part # 5.9l starter and was wondering if I need to run the shims and bushing supplied with the jw ultrabell kit when putting a Powerglide behind a bb Mopar.

i used the summit mini starter and i used 3 shims with the glide. look at the clearance of the ring gear to the starter and that will help you determine the ammount of shims. the turbo 400 that i just took out used two. the glide took three. with three shims i did not have to use the aluminum sleeve that jw gives you. i also replaced the 8 gold grade 8 bolts that they give you with some arp shoulded bolts.
