rook440 enthusiast R Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 266 iowa	I have a Hughes girdle on my 505..it has dyno time only ,5 pulls ,made 650 hp and 650 tq ,with stage vi heads,pulled to 6500 rpm ,pulled oil filter and no unusual fileings ...dont know about the #5 studs tho ..I have a copy of the installation instructions if you need a copy ....

I put ARP main studs in my 440 and had to cut the studs down on #5 to fit under rear seal retainer and then trim the retainer also to clear the 12 point nuts. If they went through the girdle, it would get quite crowded back there. Brian Dunnigan

mistress member Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 176 South Bend, Indiana	I have been using there girdle for 3 years now on my RB engine and i have to say it was one of the best investments i could have done for the bottom end,(besides the half fill hard block). This is money well spent.

Even if I used the shim method, it would have to have been 1/4" above the top of the cap to clear the rod bolts. That's odd, mine is a 74 360, maybe they are taller because the mains are bigger. Vernon, Ohio	I machined the flat's on the cap's to ensure they are all the same height then made hardened washer's to shim the girdle to give .005 preload against the cap,plus I had the cap's pinned, haven't had it apart since so I cannot tell you if it fixed my slight cap walk, I know I had to slightly notch the girdle to get the needed clearance for the Eagle rod's and a 4" arm,,as far as the # 5 cap, I spotfaced the cap down so the nut and hardened washer would clear the oil pump on my small block,, also it is a 72 vintage 360 block. Talk to Mike or Dale at Chenoweth Racing and ask them when the BCRproducts girdle will be back in production as they are close. They have caps now but I am not sure when the Caps and Girdle combo will be availabe. Greg

Greg i would think a used girdle could be used with the new caps if thay are not available.i have a cre 3/8 girdle on my other engine i no longer use.

Not much, I just took off a few thousandths. Other than that, it went on as advertised. One thing that did kind of bug me...
