i got a set of hedman shorty headers for the '58, cause being a full frame, NOONE makes long tubes.

The instuctions say to use Mcleod starter # 810159, but that number comes up invalid. So i tried # 810158 as recommended by someone who used it with these headers, but i can't locate that either.

What other mini starter options are there?

why wouldn't a mini-starter for any RB work? i might be wrong but i think it would.

I'm not sure.

MAYBE the mcleod they recommend is the smallest? I'd rather not just buy any BB mini starter, and find out it has clearance issues.

I used a mini starter from DB Electrical (that I bought on egay) on my 440 with Hedman shorty headers and fit fine.

well, i don't want to spend your money for you but a mini starter can be had very cheap at any auto parts store. a 1997 318 starter should fit the bill and if it doesn't, take it back! make sure they'll take returns on a starter first! i think the part number in the instructions is wrong and from what i read, any mini-starter should work.
