My 65 I just took the wires off.Used a small screw and nut to put them together and taped them up good. Then I installed an aftermarket Volt gauge.Been in for 15 years and no problems.Rocky

There are lots of ways to do it. Simplest is to remove the two wires on the back of the amp meter and join them. Clean thoroughly, bolt together and tape or cut, strip, solder and shrink wrap.

Then add a voltmeter to monitor the system. Connect the voltmeter to a key switched source - like the key switched accessory terminal on the fuse block - and you've got it.

Another option is to convert the ammeter to a volt meter. A guage house can do it or it can be done DIY. If you make this change make sure the voltmeter is fed by a switched source. If not, it will slowly drain the battery.

I added an extra wire from the battery stud of the alternator, with a fusible link and connected it to the battery stud at the starter relay.
Done in ten minutes and no load on the ammeter.

The bulkhead connector is the weakest link in the electrical system and has turned many Mopar drivers into pedestrians.

I can suggest the MAD ammeter gauge bypass....

Hope this helps.

No need to do this on the 1967 models, make sure the back nuts on the Amp gauge are tight and sleep soundly. If you don't want the amp meter do as already advised on this post by others

No need to disconnect both wires..
Just take 1 wire off either stud, and put the wire on the other stud with the other wire and snug down the mounting nut...

Just my $0.02..
