my 440. Specs: @ 10 to 1 comp (6200 ft though)
Summit cam 224 @ .050
3500 stall
3.91 gears
Hedman headers 2.5 exhaust
Performer RPM intake
452 heads.
Car is a 64 Dodge @ 3800 lbs.
I'm leaning towards the 750.

I think a 750 will be more streetable and tunable, not to mention better gas mileage! It's usually better to lean on the conservative side.

750 vac secondary would be my choice unless it is a bracket car.
Now if you asked about an 800 DP I think that would be the shiznit.

I vote for the 850 dp. I had an 800 DP on a 440 with a 222 @.050 cam 3.23 stock converter, and at over 4200 lbs. It ran better than with my 3310 or 750 AFB.

With the 3.91's and converter I was thinking it could use 800cfm with the smaller diameter throttle bores(same as 750/less than 850)and still have decent part throttle response.
I will agree it is hard to beat a well tuned 750 vac sec on many applications(my 496 barge included).

I have run them all, and a variety of engines and my similar engine 10:1 446 with street gears, and a good driver will be getting a 750 3310 vacuum carb.
small hyd cam, well ported 452 heads with 2.14/1.81 valves engine ran low 7's in the 8th mile with a solid cam and more gear and converter.

Really with proper tuning either one would do you just fine.

Ideally, you'd get a 750 DP for it. If you have to choose between a 750 vac and 850 dp, it'll run better and be easier to tune w/ the 750 vac. It might not be faster on the track, but you'll like it better on the street.

I would buy wich ever is the better deal, if you want max performance I would buy the 850 for a street car I would use the 750
