I'm considering converting my 69 bee from bench to bucket seats. My interchange manual says buckets with headrests are the same for 68-69. But it also says the rails are different. What's the difference between 68 rails and 69 rails?

That's what I was thinking, but they list the seat frames as interchanging but they say the rails don't interchange. I just don't want to plunk down the bucks for buckets only to find I need to find correct rails.
Anyone else ever heard of rails not being the same? Maybe (hopefully) the book is wrong.

I'll run out to the shop and get the name. I'm with you, the pans are the same. Doesn't make sense to me.

So those are 68 buckets? I saw those in the for sale section. He says they have a vertical adjustment on them - as seen in the pics. So I guess they could be set to the correct height if I wanted them to be 'correct' for a 69. I've found plenty of buckets for sale, but all have been listed as 68-69 seats with no mention of the exact year. I guess most don't know of the difference in the rails. At least now I know I can use either year.
Thanks!

I have a few crusty sets from both 68 and 69 can't see any difference in them except the 68's had the wood spacers and the 69's had plastic. None of them are adjustable like in the picture. I have that same book Slim and I wouldn't bet on it being totally accurate.
I can't afford this.

There are reinforcement plates welded into the floor of bucket seat cars where they attach to the floor also.

I don't remeber seeing tracks like that on a 68 sport satellite i parted from my sport sat convert , very interesting .
SLIM , since you are going away from stock with a conversion to buckets I don't think that would OR should be an issue. Good seat cores are hard to come by , nevermind the prices I have seen being asked, take what you can get, nobody will hardly notice that ...
Can't say they were org as it was a car that had been worked over to say the least. The car was a 68 Coronet 500 and it was a org bucket with console car. The seats with the tracks are in July parts section and appear to be 68/9 frames with the plastic covers on the sides, but I have no idea what the pattern on the cover is Possibly c body

Wow. Good info guys. I thought this thread was dead. Always something to learn. Those 68 tracks in the pic in this thread are odd. Not anything like my buddy's seats. John RR, you're right, buckets are hard to find. I haven't decided for sure which way to go - buckets or bench. If my car would have had a fender tag like I was told it did from the moparts member that I bought the car from, this would not be an issue. I would stick with the original bench seat. But since there's no tag or BS I'm kicking around ideas. The car is an F6, 4spd, side scoop, ramcharger car which makes it pretty cool. Not an A12, but about as cool as it can get without having a lift off hood. Which, by the way, a lift off hood could be an option for me too. Since the closest I'll probably ever get to owning a real A12 car is the 12 inch toy version sitting on my desk. But I've got time to think about it since everything is on hold until my shop gets completed. What a nightmare. Waiting on concrete guys has been the worst experience. Finally got that out of the way after over a year. Now I'm about done with the rest of the shop so I can get back to work on the cars!

thats not a bad combo you have there but I think this is a pretty cool combo , I wish it had side scoops originally ...

You don't need a FT or B/S to tell if the car was originally built with buckets or bench, there are reinforcement plates welded into the floor of bucket seat cars where they attach to the floor also.

He knows what the car had originally if you read the original post
