Hey guys, I was going thru my stack of rims and tires for 4 that will hold air. I don't remember where I got this one but it looks new. Here's the info-
Black 15" steel wheel, 5 on 4.5 bolt, 3 nubs w/ dimples, #'s by the stem are M5/9 11 (stem) 11 55
The tire is a E78-15 Goodyear Polyglas Custom Power Cushion. It has 2 white stripes on the sidewall. On the back of the tire it's stamped
" Gdyr Service......
Brkprk.....
N Olmstead........
3/25 ?........."
Any know what year/ body this would be for? Being a 15" rim my guess is B/C body, 71/72?
Thanks for any input. If it's nothing special I'll throw it on the SSP to move it around but if it's worth something I'll use it as the show spare.
Thanks again

the wheel - M5/9 11 -o- 11 55
M - Motor Wheel Corp.
5 - Plant #5 (CANADA)
9 - 1969
11 - November
11 - 11th
55 - 5.50" wide

IMO the wheel is from a '70 c-body

the tire - E78-15 Goodyear Polyglas Custom Power Cushion

'70 Chrysler STANDARD was H78-15s
'70 Dodge c-bodies STANDARD was G78-15s (H78-15s OPTIONAL)
'70 Plymouth c-bodies STANDARD was F78-15s (H78-15s OPTIONAL)

The twin stripe tires were used '70-71 (maybe '72?), but that tire is smaller than what the factory used for 15". Is the dealer stamp orange? Got a pic?

I'd guess the tire was replaced at some point, with the smaller & cheaper tire.

What's the DOT molded date code on the sidewall?

DOT on tire looks like BKNBKACE

BK - 39th week of '70
NB - Akron II, Ohio Goodyear Tire Plant
KA - size (H78-15?)
CE - type (Polyglas Custom Power Cushion twin stripe?)

Tire is H78-15

With the dealer stamp - it was replaced early in the car's life - but it is a good size & type for a '70-'71 c-body.

Hey, thanks for the info 6bblgt Is there a book or something that has all this info or did you collect it over time?
I think you're right, there is that "Gdyr Service" stamp on the back so it probably was replaced. Maybe I just have never paid attention buy I don't remember ever seeing twin stripe sidewalls. Well, at least it's safe to throw on the car. It's sitting on 2 flats rigt now
Thanks again

All 78 series white wall MOPAR tires in '70 were twin stripe.

I'd find a c-body owner that needs/wants it.
