Hi, can anybody help with a brand and part# for a set of rear air shocks for 67 Coronet? I appreciate the time....thanks

Dumb question but you aren't buying these to raise the rear of the car are you?

I ran the gabriel hi-jackers in a dart 8 or 9 years ago. They worked fine. Not the proper way to raise the rear end of a car up but if you really want them your local parts store can spec the right ones out for you.

Rockauto has Monroe part number MA757 for $60 (both shocks and air hose)

well, I was hoping to prevent the rear from sagging when I put the beer cooler in the trunk, but if the question sensor's feel this was a dumb question, please tell me where I can find the list of appropriate questions that are allowed.

It depends how often you carry a cooler. I put taller shackles on my car as a permanent fix to hall kegs....
But air shocks are the way to go as a simple overload remedy.

i've used air shocks on my RR for 20 years, never a problem. just make sure they are installed correctly at the frame or you'll either rip out the x-member or egg out the mounting holes!

I was asking the dumb question figuring you knew better than to use the air shocke to raise the rear. They are meant to help when you add loads but some people use them instead of repairing the reason the rear sags to begin with. I'm sorry you took it wrong. Please pay attention to the puncuation.

It was a simple question requiring a simple answer, if you didn't know the answer, why not just ignore the thread, had I wanted a discussion about the funtions of the springs, thats what I would have asked for....thanks for all the useful comments.

I'm sorry for trying to give a helpful reply. Please excuse me for offering a small hint. You could have been a little less caustic in your reply. Some people don't realize the damage using air shocks as a suspension support causes. I just wanted to be sure you weren't going to hurt your car. From some of the other replies I wasn't the only one questioning the reason for air shocks. I will be careful not to offer any more help.

save the $ and cut 2 short 2x4s and stick them between the frame rail and spring

that way the airshocks dont rip the bolts out of the floor pan brace

it will help stops axle wrap up also

back "in the day", FAST FRANKIE had a 64 moostwang[with flames !]and he couldn't afford air shocks, so he did the 2x4 thing. we were always on frankie to lite 'em up ! of course he would oblige[cause his car was "FAST" ] that lasted till he "impressed" the local officer, whom took notice of his "carpenter skills"........

My springs were so worn out I needed them to hold the car up.I finally put on new springs about 3 years ago and no longer need them.
I believe they are Gabriel Hi-Jackers.

I ran air shocks in my younger days for alot of years, only problem i ever had was air line rubbed against the exhaust and burnt a hole in it, other than that never had problems and most of my friends did also, we must of been lucky

My springs are bagged and sagged.
I bought Monroe MA757 here under my 73 Satellite.
Mopars used the same rear shock part #'s for many years up to 1976 or as late as 1978 depending on body style..
I run 45 PSI and with 3 kids and their gear onboard it sits well.
I moved my Mom with this car and it never sagged with the shocks.

Here's how it looked before the shocks...

Hmm.... I used air shocks to raise my back end up a little, haven't had any problems and seems to ride just fine.
