I have a brand new Edelbrock CH 440 Intake with a 4500 flange ? I never seen a CH 440 intake with a dominator flange .. Anyone know any thing about them or have even seen one ? It looks just like the old 440 CH4B low rise duel plane intake but has the dominator flange ..
Thanks Lee..

If it's not a big block i'll just walk..

I still think that Edelbrock should do a 4500 version of the Peformer RPM.

Or Indy should do a 4500 version of their DP intake.

The CH440 is a really old intake. Almost all of those 4500 flanged dual planes have gone away. Might still be a couple available for the BB Chevy motor but that is about it. The CH454 was a popular intake back when I was a street rat. Whenever we saw a car with a CH454 and a 4500 carb we figured it was a serious ride. There was an early Camaro in town that had that combo and a Dana 60 out back. Back in the late '70's that was a serious statement for a street car.

Never knew such a thing existed. Interesting they made it. The CH4B is a decent intake for a mild 440, but if you have enough head and cam to need a dominator carb, I'd think you'd also need a lot more intake than a CH440.

I have a real odd-ball one ....a CH4B with plates welded on to convert it to max-wedge heads. NOT finished ....email for details.

I have a CH440 intake with a dominator flange. I intend to give it a try when I detune a tunnel ram, 12:1, 440 that I had for my rail. I'm obviously expecting a loss in peak hp, but I do expect it to look fairly stock in my Challenger.

The intake in the magazine article has a cast in belly pan. Mine does not. I also think the test article does not give the intake any fair consideration. The test piece had the divider milled down old school style, which is an attempt to make it a better single plane, rather than good dual plane intake. I expect my intake to be at least on par with a Performer RPM, with perhaps a little more top end with a dominator carb.

I also made my own dominator to 4150 4 hole spacer/adapter to try my 1000 cfm HP 4150 carb and do back to back comparisons.

Too many cars, too many parts, too little coin, too little space to work in, too little time left to make it all happen! Update: down to one ride, still too many parts, a little more jingle in the pocket, gaining space, and it's going to happen this year!

That was a welded on valley pan and if I remember correctly, that CH440 had the runners welded and ported to MW size. It was an old intake that appeared to have been modified to work with original MW heads. It was probably a very good intake back in the day. A Moparts member was nice enough to send me that intake for the magazine article. I wasn't able to locate an unmodified intake so I used what I had available. It obviously was better than nothing since years later the article pops back up in this thread.
