We're learning the 74's here that have round ball style shifter handles instead of T-handles, too many than to be a gear head swap to the old style shifter, really starting to look that way. Tav, I vaguely recall reading in a Mopar mag how the earliest of shifter plates said Shift Gate, then again I may be mistaken, since your car is 'one' of the first cars off the line with an Aug build date, this still may indeed be a fact. Hold onto it none the less and suspect it is original to your car until more comes in.
No question that many of the '74 E-bodies came with the ball shifter instead of the T-handle - I have parted out a few in my day.
Also a number got the woodgrain wheel as well.
I would suspect that since it was the end of the line for E-bodies, there was an order to use up as much existing stock as they could from the plants.
