I have a 1972 Duster 340 that I have put on new spark plug wires about 1 year ago. I used the spark plug wire boot thermal heat sheilds (fiberglass like fabric tubes) but had # 5 spark plug wire and boot melt through pretty badly. Anyone have pics of their Spark plug wire routing on a small block w/ Hooker Headers? I am especially concerned w/ #5 and #7 wire routing.

Sorry, no pix, but the following may be clear enough....
I had Hedmans on a 360 in a Dart Sport. They had #3 tube running near the valve cover, right over #5 and 7. I used 90 degree boots on 5 and 7 and ran the wires DOWN, then sweeping around and back up to the distributor. The other cylinders were fine to use the straight boots.

We ran headers on probally 5 SBs.My kids truck has Hookers. We used the looms that Summit sells. That and we used Taylor Spiro Pro wires.None ever burned a wire. The looms attach on the lower VC bolts and keep the wires neat.My old Ram ran them for at least 6 years and I plowed with it also.Rocky

Use angle/90 degree boots and you shouldn't have a problem. I have Hooker headers on my 360 with no plug wire problems.
