OK gang, I just bought this yesterday and am heading to pick it up this coming Sunday. Its a 63 Polara 500 with its original 383. However I have a 600 plus HP 500 stroker thats finished, sitting in shop that needed a home, so this is it. Its getting a crossram and dual carbs.

I need to decide on what trans and am wondering if these push button 727s are good with this type of HP. I think I would miss having an auto shifter, not sure.

Also, since its an old style rear end, I think I want a new rear end and am tryign to decide on if I should go Dana 60 or 8 3/4 with disc brakes?

I am not sure what color this is/ was but I was thinking black with red interior????

Also, it has to have the Max wedge hood scoop.

any suggestions. CANT WAIT TO GET IT HOME.

Dave

Neat car!

Any later b-body 8 3/4 or Dana 60 will bolt in. It's a good idea since the nutted axles are a PITA! Dana if you're going racing or putting sticky tires on it. Otherwise the 8 3/4 will survive on the street with regular tires.

Hmmm, black with a red interior, where have I seen that before? I agree, awesome colors!

There was a red one with a white convertible top and Pro-stars in one of the mags a few years back that was stunning!

Looks like a reasonable straight and clean car! How are the floorpans and cowl?

If this is the original color, I don't mind it. It's period correct for these cars. I love black and red but maybe a bit overused. Just my opinion.

You've probably seen this site, good for pics etc. I would also put the correct style max wedge hood scoop on. maybe even a cross ram if I had the money.

This color is pretty cool also, not very common.

Hope you are planning on subframe connectors, a dana and a built 727 with a beefy driveshaft between!
IF this is going to be a cruiser, I'd worry about how hot the interior is going to be.
I know you like nice, done cars, but for as often as you change projects, I'd suggest bolting it together first, sorting out the bugs and seeing if you really like the car before the teardown and full body/paint.

Great car, great deal you got! I envy you. It will be a kick to go pick it up and haul it home. Sometimes I think that's the most exciting part of any new car adventure. Congratulations on a wise purchase!

I was wondering who "snapped" that one up. Unless there is something hidden and not obvious from the pics, that was a real good buy and it included the trailer as well, right!!!

YES, THATS IT.

IM home. Left Saturday, to Eureka California on the coast. Grabbed it saturday evening, stayed the night, took my 17 year old beautiful daughter and MOPAR ADVENTURE sidekick with me. We stayed the night, had a great expensive diner, (did I mention she can eat some serious seafood) and drove to Redding the next day and stayed the night at a buddies home. The drove home today through a lot of ice over the sierras.

Here are a few more pics. some old and some from today.

By the way. its staying its original color and engine, the 383.

I decided I will find a 63 HT or post to go with it for the go fast version.

Good decision! Those cars had the most beautiful interiors of their time. It would be much more likely that your daughter can drive it in a restored condition rather than with a 600hp motor and in a hotrod condition. She's got to be able to hear the stereo with 6 way CD changer over the exhaust and maybe an aftermarket A/C if she's going to want to drive it. Some 14" Magnum 500's would look good on it too! Nice car!
