Looking to swap a A518 into the Dart.

It has a 360 ede heads, comp xe284, 8 3/4 3.91 742 suregrip,245/60R15. Would like to Drive to the track 110 miles away 2-5 times a year.

What is different internally between the Lock up 3 pin and the Non lock up 2 pin. ( I would like to build a Non lock up. I have a spare 727 wondering if it would just be a matter of swapping input shafts.) The lock up style 3 pin are a lot easier to find.
Also wondering how much heat am I going to have to deal with by running a 3000-3500 converter. (right now I have a midwest 3000, eventually going to buy a turbo action 3500)

I read that there is a full manual valve body available that allows you to shift into 4th? I sent keith at 727specialist a email Friday. Waiting to hear back.

I have both front floor pans cut out. Want to get all the info I can before I buy a trany.

Thanks Sam

I am putting a 518 in my Rampage drag week car and
am using the 3 pin type... I didnt want the lock up
so I could use one of my race converters so I got
the input shaft from CRT.. I ended up getting the
whole pump instead of the support due to the mid
shaft size... the newer 518s have a smaller end on
the mid shaft so the standard 727 input wont work.
If you can find a 2 pin thats the way to go... I also
went with the standard style valve body but put the
up grade/shift kit so it'll help that

I think it was in the $130 range for the parts, might
have been a bit more because I had to buy the whole
pump... there is 2 different mid shafts from what John
told me... one is the size of a pencil and the other
is the size of your finger... the bigger one will
fit the standard 727 input but I had the small one

Big... not sure yet... I might even go with a A/C
condenser with a fan.... space is the issue but I
might put it in the rear
