It looks like there is an issue here as they look like they are abnormally worn. 30 plus years ago I had a 70 340 dart with a 727. I did a quick clutch reseal and left the sealing rings go. Bit me. Had a 2-3 shift and slip issue. A lot of times the rings wear due to excess bushing wear. The torky 340 pounds the tranny pretty good. I recommend bushings on almost all rebuilds.

If the drum is sloppy on the reaction shaft it can even BREAK the rings. CHECK the drum surface now .. it could be damaged.
