All the searches i've done just show back halved cars. I have stock rails but i'm fitting alloy tubs and aluminium floor and would like ideas on how others have done this. A couple of questions To get my tub height, do i need to undo the shocks and measure from top of the tyre to my chassis rails and add an inch. How have others fitted on the front of the wheel tub near the quarterlights. Mick

I depends how tall a tire you are going to run and then you also add in the fact that at some point it may go larger. I would make a cardboard pattern of the radius of your new wheel tubs and then see how far you can put them up in the body before having serious issues. Make sure you have the pattern centered over the axle. You do have the old tubs cut out??

I wont go any larger, the tyres are 31" hoosiers, the axle is set back an inch. I am using hardboard for my templates. A google search throws up quite a few different ways of doing things, i just want it as neat as i can get it.

There are some pics of Steff's Challenger build on the Best Machine site. Not sure if they are still there, but that car had some Aluminium tin work with the stock rails and floor. I would box up the standard rails atleast if I were removing the factory floor.

I am boxing the rails in, for strength, I also plan to fold the floor sections around them. I had a look on the best machine site but the pictures aren't there but thanks anyway. Mick

Thanks I've looked at that site before the tub install is quite informative. The one thing i'm looking for is floor fitting on the stock rails and opinions on the pros and cons of alloy or steel panels. Mick
