Does anyone know how well something like the Indy Maxx aluminum water blocks would hold up for street use? They are about $4400 bucks and 90-100 lbs lighter than a cast iron B block. I'm going to build a 470 or 512 stroker motor for this car anyway and I like the reduced weight on the front end. I'm just not sure how well this would hold up.

It would go in my 70 Roadrunner. Any ideas or comments are welcome.

70 Roadrunner almost ready to come off the rotisserie smile

I don't know why you would think it wouldn't be ok in a street car , look at the abuse thrown at it in a race application , I'm sure there are many being used on the street .

Early aluminum blocks had a tendancy to leak water around the sleeves. I understand improvements have fixed that problem and wouldn't see any reason not to use one on the street.

They work great, I have a couple customers that use them on the street and drive them regularly.
