Hi all I know alot of people have probably asked this question, but looking to get an idea of what you guys think my car is capable in the 1/4
69 barracuda 3480 with me in it. 360 9.2 compression ported smog "596" heads 2.02 valves 1.60 exhast comp xe268 cam 1.5 roller rockers ported M1 single plane intake 650 holley 1 5/8" long tube headers 2.5 summit exhaust
904 trans coan 2800 stall converter 8 3/4 3.55 gears.
c body rear shocks stock springs, poly bushings adjustable pinion snubber, front is all stock rebuild, but looking at adjustable drag shocks subframe connectors, reinforced torque boxes.
265/50 16 drag radials
And 100 to 150hp shot of nitrous
Im hoping the car is capable of low 13s maybe high 12s without the nitrous, and maybe mid to low 12s with the 100 shot? Anything you guys think that I should change? I was considering 3.91 gears, but dont know.

My non mopar daily driver weighs 4430 with me in it. Stock 260hp engine. With just headers a good exhaust a 3600 stall and 3.73 s it goes 14.00 @ 98-99mph. This is on a 17inch drag radial.1.82 60 ft. I should hope a much lighter car with more work would be much faster.

That smells of a late model, with a "net" 260 hp plus whatever the headers add and better automatic (1st gear).
Back in the day, with his cam, carb, converter and gearing............
high 13's on street tires, low 13's, mayyyyybe high 12's with slicks, tweaked and powertuned to fullest extent.
Too many variables to debate here, just take it to the track and report back. Have fun, that's what it's about.

Well, Id say a "clean" 100 shot will get you low 12s, if not better....
Big Squeeze (Wayne Smothers) has customers cars knocking off 1.5-2 seconds on clean 200 shots. These cars were in the bottom 11s on motor, high 9s on the giggle gas.
Before you go juicin it, make sure you get a jet combination from Monte Smith. The old tune charts are fuel fat and will kill a motor in short order.
Any idea what your ring gaps are?
72 RR, Pump gas 440, 452s, 3800 lbs, Corked, ET Radials,. 11.33@117.72.
Same car, bone stock 346s, 9.5 comp, baby solid. 12.24@110.

Thanks for the reply guys. The M1 seemed to work well on the 318 with the nitrous. I keep thinking about going bigger on the cam, gears and converter, but I think this combo will be nice and streetable. I am considering going to a 9.5" 3500 converter, but will probably try out the coan converter first. If I can get the car to run 12s with the nitrous I will be happy.
As for the ring gaps, I havnt set them yet I was thinking .025 top and .028 second, what would you guys reccomend? Thanks

BE very careful if you want the engine to last Putting a 100 shot of nitrous on your motor. Nitrous that is not right will nlow up an engine real fast. Is it worth it to try? Just and old fart who has spent too much money over the years on great ideas without knowing the whole story.
I agree, nothing but trouble....as i rebuild because of melted pistons.
