I have a 440 source 7.1" I beam connecting rod (the expensive one that uses the arp 2000 rod bolts) that needs the wrist pin bushing replaced.

Anyone know where these might be available other than 440 source?

Our local machine shops carry them. Have you tried yours?

I have 2 rods that need to be rebushed. What happend is these 2 rods galled the bushings fairly severely. The rest have none to minor galling so I took all them to my machinist so he could hone them and loosen them up a bit. I thought I would have to replace the 2 severely galled rods but my machinist (I have a good relationsip with them and trust their work) suggested rebushing them if the bushings are available. They are mostly a chevy shop with a few mopars thrown in but they did not seem familiar with the mopar rod. It seems since the small ends are BBC size they would use the same bushing and be readily available. If anyone knew of a vendor with a part # this would really be helpful.

If they are "mostly a chevy shop" and cannot get a bbc sized bushing for you, I'd look for another shop. If they do any type of high performance work, they should have suppliers for either the part or the stock to make the part. If the shop is having you chase down the part, then he is also going to blame any future problems on your part.

Also, did this shop look at these parts before the motor galled up the wrist pins? I'm not looking for an answer, but if the answer is yes, think about that before having them do the work.

Yea I dont get it.. why would he not know if the bushings are available.. Its there job to have, install and keep the stuff on hand.. My little machine shop guy does.
No reason why they Gaul in the first place.
If this is the guy who assembled the rods and pistons the first time.. Find another shop, cause they didnt check for pin fit, which is not just a common knowledge procedure, but is mandatory fact.
Im sorry but as simple and common as this is is not a excusable mistake that could result in catastrophic engine failure as this.

Found the bushings I need after searching some other chevy shops around town. This is chevy country where I live and there is no such thing as a shop that's not majority chevy within 400 miles. We have two local tracks and when I run my car mopars typically will be less than 10% of the turnout. There have been times when I was the only mopar at the track. However, I am not a monkey see monkey do type of racer and this is what makes mopars more fun to run.

The machine shop I am currently using had nothing to do with this particular engine because I did not know them at the time I did the build. I have no one to blame but myself because I assembled the engine with the pins too tight.
