I know you get what you pay for, but Legendary seat covers are out of the questions at the moment. Working on getting my folks' Barracuda on the road for the Summer and the buckets are in need of some help, the rest of the interior has been replaced over the years but the buckets were bought separately. Has anyone had luck with slip on seat covers fitting A-body bucket seats decently? Just looking for a simple black cover to toss over the seats for the summer.

any help would be great, thanks
Corey

There used to be someone on ebay that sold cheap seat covers, I don't know if they still do. I make my own...it's really not that hard to do. I use the original seat as a pattern, buy vinyl and upholstery thread at my upholstery shop, and go to town on my little Kenmore. I've done my Duster, Dart, husband's Challenger, and my daughter's Chevy truck so far.

I got some reasonably priced neoprene ones at autozone. They were thick like a wetsuit and strapped on pretty well- I didn't have to adjust them every time I got out or in.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I'd hate to see what sort of mess I'd come up with after giving a sewing machine a go lol, and always forget about JC Whitney for some reason, but after looking through most of their pictures show a high back bucket so I'm not sure how well that would fit. Radar, do do you have a low back or a high back bucket in your car?

I thought it was our upholstery shop Is it just the buns that are trashed? On cars that I don't want to dirty the seats I buy fabric or towels in a close match and just lay on the seat. Probably not what you wanted but hids some of the roughness also and can clean in the washer.

haha, well it was worth a shot, not many people are willing to try it...but sewing is kinda like welding, cut two pieces and put them together, lol, and no burns either

The foam is probably at the point it should be replaced, the vinyl is pretty shot and white whereas the rest of the interior is black so I'll probably look into something along the lines of the neoprene covers. That way they have some thickness to them to hide the flaws underneath.

I actually drove my Satellite around for a couple years with black tshirts stretched over the seats to hide how bad they were; the seat bottoms were so bad the last 6 months or so I was actually sitting on the springs since the vinyl was gone and the foam had turned to dust. Just looking to spruce up what's there for the summer, I hope to have the car on the road by their anniversary in July, it's working it's way to a clone of what they had when they got married.
