What is everyone running for a timing chain cover?

I bought one from MagnumHP a few years ago (the one with the penstar access hole) and now that finaly getting around to putting the engine to together. The guy who is assembling the engine is running into problems with it.

I am running a Cloyes Hex-adjust timing chain and the three bolts stick out through the access hole in the cover. Nevermind getting the cam button to fit. (running a roller cam so wanted a good cover)I see they don't carry it anymore...

Just wanted to know what would be a good cover to get,

Thanks in advance

Hello,

Ran into a similar problem with mine. Had to give up the fabricated cover for a modified stock cover. Chenoweth welded a plate over the cam button area to add strength.

I got one of those timing sets, out in the garage after it rubbed the hell outta my stock timing cover....

Not sure what i'm going to do with it. Can't find any bolts that I'd bet the R&R time on it being short enough....

GregZ is still around, maybe ask him if the Hex-a-just timing set worked with that cover. You might need to change the timing chain to something else. If you want to stay with the Hex-a-just and can't make that cover work then get the billet cover from Hughes Engines.

Andy, will your cover work with a ATI balancer? I know it says it will not with a TCI.

Here's what Andy told me when I asked him this same question recently: "Shouldn't be any problem. I've used several different ATI dampers with my covers and haven't seen an issue yet. I stick with the "normal" dampers though not the super lightweight race ones."

If you look close you'll see that the damper in the picture is an ATI unit.
