I am switching from a column shift to floor shift (power)steering in my '68 Coronet. Went to the columbus swap meet today and was emphatically told this column I bought was for a 68-69 B Body for power steering.
I got home and the column is 3 inches shorter than mine. Can someone pls tell me what I have here. The breakaways are pot metal on this one and mine are plastic.

It may be from an A-body, but all you have to do is swap the shaft. I installed a B-body (67 Charger) column in my old 67 Barracuda because it was what I had at the time.

"A" body. Thats nice! Can anyone verify this is a "A" body column. If I pull the clip on top that holds the bearings will the inner shaft slide right out?

It's not a 68 column , see how your column has the rectangular hole near the bottom , that is for your reverse light switch. so yes you got screwed , let me guess , you TOLD the guy what you were looking for instead of ASKING what it came out of ?

He told me it came out of a '69 B Body with power steering/4 speed car.
Do you have any idea what it is actually from?
What really sucks is while I was at the swap buying this POS I had a guy respond to my wanted ad with pics of a NICE '68 column that I need for $40 bucks less than I paid for this!
If I could ID it I may just sell this and get the '68 column!
Thnx

the bottom column is a 1967 column , sorry it's not going to work in a 68-69 car

as far as I know
1967 is the only year the locking collar with the square headed screw in it,, is 1967 only.

Even the upper shells are different from other years.

Good to know that bill , looking at the pictures again the outer jacket appears to be a larger diameter ..

Thats a power steering column , you should just buy the one that you were contacted about and sell this one for whatever you can and be done with it . Of course get pictures FIRST ...

Can anyone verify this column is a '67 B Body. Had potential buyer tell me that it is not a '67 B Body Column/power.
He said his '67 Belvedere power/column shifter is 7-8 inches longer below the column tube!!
