It depends, is the trans shifting properly? Is it slipping?

If it went to limp mode (stuck in 2nd gear) that means it probably needs an input or out put speed sensor. Very common problem. If you can not check with a scanner witch one is right and wrong replace both of them and go.

Gear ratio errow means the input and output speed sensors saw the wrong rpm readings for the gear it was in. It may have an internal problem also. Did it have a code that said "Fault after shift" ?? When ever I get that code I will drive them with the scanner and record the sensors to make sure they are ok as alot of times they will set a sensor code. But if the sensors are reading right then it is an internal trans problem. But like was said some people will just go ahead and replace the sensors to see if it fixes it. Working for a dealer I can't throw parts at a car as I have to be sure it's bad before I can replace them. Ron
