I heard of a racer in a high 10 sec car that crashed, He brok his neck, IF he had a full face and a neckbrace on he would have been fine, as that gives your head a lot more support than just an open face and no neck brace..... You guys have to remeber, this is your life !!!! I would recommend that you all get a full face helmet AND a neck brace, even if your ET level does not require it. I am always amazed when people dont look at what the safety issue us when they complain about certain rules....Helmets are certed for a pretty long time....Get the best one you can ! ....BAD A$$ STREET CAR.....

After I bought it, I wished I had bought a full face helmet. I was just kinda surprised at Sunshine (where I run regularly) said something to me since I go low 6.40's and mid to high 6.30's there all the time. Times are tough and I wasn't expecting to have to shell out 300.00+ bucks for a new helmet. It's bad enough to cough up the money to make weekend trips to races as it is. That being said I want a full face helmet! Just the thought of an impact or shattering glass is enough for me to get one. I was merely asking what ratings are required. I've since figured that out and am actively seeking the best helmet for the money

Back then, the guardrail was angle iron. It broke the rail and came into the car. The rail struck the driver in the chin. Barely broke the skin and the car was hardly hurt, but the impact to the chin killed the driver instantly. I was 10 feet away and saw it myself. Now I know we don't have angle iron guardrails anymore, but the point is, a full face helmet would have saved his life and he was barely moving. In an accident, you never know what may come into the car and strike you. Monte

I wish there where more outlaw tracks around that didn't care at all. Id run in shorts and a wife beater but I'm not skerd and really not all that concerned. I spent way to many years running motox and street racing bikes which is way more dangerous.
