I was at Sunshine yesterday running the 6.50 class and was told I need a current rated full face helmet. I argued the the current NHRA (Sunshine is an NHRA track) requirement was for 9.99 1/4 mile or quicker and 6.30-something 1/8 mile. They said for the 6.50 class they enforce the full face helmet rule. The guy pitted next to me from down south said he was bounced from PBIR for not having a current rated full face helmet. So I guess this is my opportunity to upgrade seeing as though I'm gonna be running a lot of 6.50 races  DC

and Chris you are correct full face is not needed until 9.99 or faster that is right out of the 2011 rulebook.So Sunshine must be making up there own rules.

so it's eyeglasses and/or top fuel. That's some stupid chit right there. Time to step up to the 21st century and wear the best safety gear available.

It's not what your chin is going to hit, It's what's going to hit your chin!! Amazing what flies around and comes loose if an accident ever happens.
I wear my full-face while I'm riding my motorcycle as well, wear sunglasses usually, and depending on the style of glasses, some of them are hard to get on. But I really LOVE my face!!!

Ah come on , you have a face only a mother could love  you left yourself open on that one. Back when I rode they didn't have full faced helmets , I crashed, slid on my face for awhile, wore a beard for a long time. Motorcycle yes, cars ?, verdict still out with me on that. 
it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

I've seen a lot of your mugs and would agree that esthetically there is little need for full face helmet! But for safety, that is a different story. I don't agree with NHRA much of the time but this is dead on. They should require full face for anything quicker then 12sec. In fact keep the open face for street cars only. IMO, they don't belong in a race car...

The Snell 2010 helmets just came out, probably many 2005 left out there. HelmetCity.com has great deals, owned by a racer.
