Sounds nuts but we are gonna do it- 5.9 and a 518 into a 63 Newport- biggest enigma is motor mounts at this point- 63 has the "floating power" type mounts, and as far as we can tell Schumacher nor anyone else makes a conversion mount. Anyone ever done it? Know of anyone we've missed who makes a mount? Ideas or advice on fab? Getting started next week. Also- close runner up to biggest enigma-best way to make the 518 work with the pushbuttons in the 63? Sure we will figure it all out eventually, but thought we'd pick some brains here to prelude our quest-lol.. Thanks in advance guys!

can't help with the motor mounts.
I swaped a 5.9 into my 65 coronet. Decided to use the original 727 instead, but had to use the 5.9 efi throttle body and cables for the kick down.
I bring this up because I noticed while I was under a van scavanging the cable kick down parts, that the shifter was cable operated as well.
So 2 things came to mind, but I have not pursued them any further.
First at least for me, since my car is cable shifted column, was to take the van column and figure out how to adapt it.

Or that I could adapt the cable shift from my column to use the ends on the newer transmission.

Mounts from a 62-63 Dodge 880 with a poly 318 should work I think. Though they will probably hard to track down.

Hey Tim You might send Moparts member Joe sixpak a PM and see if he has any ideas on mounts. He always has motor mounts for sale in the 4 sale parts of this site, and probably know as much or more than anybody about what fits what. There's a company called Imperial Services who have some kinda kit to convert pushbutton shifters to work on 727's....so I don't see why it wouldn't work on a 518 also. Good to see you around here. Yesterday, I tripped over that frame rail I bought from you and thought to myself "I wonder how Tim's doing?" Take care dude.

Well what do you know. Finally found a set of the original c body mounts- (we didn't have a set when we got body..) The ears line up perfect with the ears on the magnum block, and looks like it will bolt right in... whoda thunk it.....

I think this should be a great swap. I've been brainstorming lots of Magnum engine swaps lately.
The poly mounts should work perfect. The trans tunnel on 60-62 C bodies are big and should clear everything. the 63-64 hump is smaller but still big enough. The trans mount ought to be easy too. The removable part is sturdy and easily modified. The pushbuttons should be convertible. The 66 floor shift and 66-69A-100 and 66-68 Dodge trucks, almost all Dodge motorhomes after 66 all had one cable shifters that would work with your overdrive trans. Yes I think Imperial services modifies the 2 cable pushbutton mechanisms to work a single cable with park.
I want to know what wires are needed to run the injection, computer etc stand alone so no dash mods are needed.
I thought about doing this swap to my 60 Plymouth wagon but with a Dakota 5 speed manual.
