I am trying to ship a-body 8 3/4 minus 3rd member to a guy in Florida. I was told the best way to ship was in 2 boxes and ships the drums and axles and the housing in a separate box.

Anybody ever done it?

Do you know approx. weight?
Best way to ship?
price?

Any insight on doing this successfully?

Craig

I would wrap the housing only in some shrink wrap and use packing tape to tape a shiping label to it

or take some cardboard and cut it up to wrap the housing and tape it up real good

axles I would zip tie together and wrap in shrink wrap/cardboard and tape up good also

the chunk I sent,I zip tied it in a milk create then cut cardboard to wrap the create up and shiped it ups for about 40$ for 80 lbs

a good cheap way for the housing is parcil post with the usps and add a deliv conformation on it

same for the axles with parcil post

it could take up to 2 weeks though with snail mail..but cheap

my steering colum was 14.50 this way

my traction bars came this way for less than 20 bux(right at 2 weeks for deliv)

I wraped a set of leaf spring with shrink wrap and sent them for about 40 bux ups with the label taped to it

my housing and axles came in 2 boxes from moser with very little packing...

just clean the oil out so it dont leak thru anything and it can go cheap with the usps in parcel post

Use 2 1/2" conduit clamps and bolt the housing to a light base made out of 2 x 4s. Wrap the whole thing in plastic so the shipping label sticks.

Box the axles separately.

Box both drum brke assemblies separately.

Use FedEx Ground shipping to avoid a shipping surcharge. UPS charges extra for anything not packed in a cardboard box.
