I found a bunch of large early 1960's dodge work trucks, such as dump trucks, etc, that have 413 engines (Industrial Style). What is the current value of these blocks? Are these 413 industrial blocks desirable for guys running in the stock /super stock 426 ci Max Wedge racing?

I have heard that the industrial blocks can be over-bored significantly.

I have seen more than a few Max Wedge stock eliminator guys run the industrial block in their cars.

Also, I have heard that the original 413-426 max wedge engines were built using the tougher industrial blocks, iron rockers, connecting rods, ect.
Don't know if that is the case, but if so it would make sense from the accounting office's perspective...build a race package mostly from existing parts.

I'm currently working on putting a motor together based on that block, but it's going to go in a pulling truck. If you were closer, I'd be interested in buying some of the blocks you have. I've found a few complete motors in salvage yards, but they're asking $300-400 since they want to sell them complete. The block is all I need so the rest won't do me much good. My engine builder thinks he can find one in the $100-125 range, but I might have to buy a few to find one with thick enough walls.

Aren't the early industrial blocks also equipped with steel eight bolt cranks? They may still be usable in a lot of applications.

I can't say for sure on the 413's, but I have 5 of the hydraulic bellhousings/flywheel/clutch setup from the big trucks 2 of which I know came off of 361's, the other 3 I'm not sure of they were 413's or 361's. The cranks are 8 bolt, but the rear flange sticks out from the back of the block further. In order to fit that setup on my 440 I had to make a .650" spacer to clear the bellhousing. I have a picture of the back of a 361 block if anyone wants to see it.

If the trucks are C trucks they are somewhat collectible, Maybe you could sell the trucks and just buy a megablock

Has anyone ever seen adjustable ductile iron rocker arms on the 413 industrial engines?

I was told by an old mopar guy that this was true, but I have never seen it myself????

Does anyone have photos or more information on 413 industrial engine rocker arms???

I wrote an article on this exact subject that was printed in Power Wagon Advertiser a couple months ago. Some of those engines had regular 6 bolt cranks, some had the extended flange 8 bolt crank. If you remove the 8 bolt crank, you can drop a regular 6 bolt car crank in its place. There were both 361s and 413s done like that. I wrote an article on this exact subject that was printed in Power Wagon Advertiser a couple months ago. As for the ductile iron rockers, I've seen them on the marine engines, which are the same block as the IND/Truck engines. The heavy 413 blocks can often be bored .070" to standard 426W size, and that is why many nostalgia racers and Max Wedge guys always look for them...

Do you have a link to this article or any other info?

Thank you for the information. Do you happen to have any photos of this engine, and ductile iron rocker arms??

Does anyone else happen to have photos of a 413 industrial engine or 413/426 Marine engine with adjustable ductile iron rockers??

Thanks!

I have two blocks acting as legs for a storage shelf in my garage that were taken off well pumps..
