Sounds to simple Just tape up the wires that went to the regulator and then take the regulator and the wires that went to the alt. and put them on the shelf. All the guages and everything else will work and be OK ??

I pulled the pins out of the plug inlet on the regulator & left the harness plugged into the voltage regulator, so it appears to look original, but isn't hooked up.

Be sure that the wire from the alternator is at least a 10 or better an 8. I used 2 #8 for my one wire. No such thing as too big, but too small is a killer.

I use double 10 but am going to # 6 alt to trunk! # 1 trunk to starter!

What about the blue wire ? I think that it is for the ignition. I have one green wire that goes from the reg. to the alt. and one blue that goes from the reg. then splits to the alt. and goes to the ignition I think. Thanks for the advice on wire size I had some work done to the alt. at a shop and he said it put out 87 amps. at 3k so I used #10 wire. I found an 140 amp. at Summit in the bargin section for $75 looked it up in the book and it was $189 so I couldn't pass it up. It is not a mini and I run a Meziere water pump so now I have to come up with some way to mount the thing.
