me again guys...

in my ongoing "340 intake 4bbl onto a 318" project, i found that the throttle linkage that came off my 318 does not fit on the 340 manifold. the bolt holes line up, but it doesnt lay flush with them because the 340 intake is taller than the 318.

so my question is do i need to find throttle linkage off a 340 or does someone make a bracket that will allow for the one i have to fit on the 340 manifold?

thanks!

Our 73 340 Challenger came with a 383 when we got it so figuring out the linkage was a pain when we put a 340 back into it. Took this pic of an original car to see what was needed. B/E bodies should be similar. This is for the one-piece kickdown. Hope this helps.

The throttle cable for a 4 barrel carb is longer than the 318 2 barrel cable. You can probably use a /6 throttle cable, they were longer than the 2 barrel cable also.

If you have an automatic with the kickdown rod with the threaded end, it will also need to be longer for the 4 barrel carb. SUmmit racing sells the Edelbrock adapters to lengthen the kickdown rod (2 different diameters, IIRC).

Four barrel throttle cable brackets, OEM and aftermarket show up on Ebag.

Mancini Racing should have everything you need. They have a full assortment of reproduction brackets as well as aftermarket throttle brackets.

2 bbl. and 4 bbl. throttle brackets were different as the 4 bbl. manifold looked to have larger and higher ports. 360 4 bbl. stuff is similar, used on trucks and vans. If its a resto, well...... The 4 bbl.cable attaches at a different location because of the throttle shaft oriented in a different spot as compared to the 2 bbl.

what does the car need??

a 1 piece kick down or the 3 piece kickdown??

brackets and rods are differant right there

i have tweekd 2-v linkage to work a 4-v intake carb swap

just have to use some of the right pieces

most time the rod/blade from bell crank to throttle stud needs lengthend about 1 1/4 inch to fit with a slight bend of the bracket

/6 thottle cable will help also

I have a drawer full of brackets if you need one PM me
