I have 727 behind my 496rb when i shift from 2nd to top it slips and revs up slightly and then goes in, this is mainly under hard accelaration. I have phoned a automatic shop (locally) and they suggested some pressure valve isn't working correctly and it needs a linkage from the carb to the auto. The car hasn't got this linkage so is this right and what do i need.

unless your tranny has a shift kit in it id say you need a kick down linkage to regulate tv preasure.

Yes it has a shift kit and a manual reverse valve body as well.

A manual VB doesn't require kickdown linkage. Try adjusting your band and doing a fluid/filter change. How many miles on the tranny? New build?

A band adjustment won't resolve a flair-up. The intermediate band releases during the 2-3 shift. If the band was sticking or too tight it pulls down instead of flairing up. It sound like you have a problem with the application of the direct clutch.

If the band is way out of adjustment an adjustment will sometimes help flareup on the 2-3 shift.
