I'm using a 440 bellhousing/flywheel on my 68 hemi GTX, tried factory gear reduction starter, but wires are right on the exhuast manifold, also tried a mini high torque, had to grind the heck out of it, to stay off the manifold, it works but screeches when turned over..any other alternatives other than getting correct bell/flywheel?

I bought the Rob Mc starter and it fits great, and cranks over my fresh Hemi with no problem.

I bought a new mini starter from 440 Source ($70.00) a year or so ago for my 66 Hemi Coronet with large Hooker headers. The first one they sent did not line up even with grinding. The replacement they sent was fine, no issues, and fits great with the headers.

I have a feeling there are some casting issues with some of thes mini starter bodies from the sounds of it and my personal experience.
