There is an 048 for sale in the B body parts.. Automatic cars had fittings, manual cars had plugs in the fittings.. Glen Ray radiators make a great 048 Radiator...

Thanks guys, this is the kind of information I was hoping to find.
Did see the 048 for sale here on the board but kinda pricy for something that probably will need to be recored, paying for the numbers I know. Have looked at the Glen-Ray units and they are looking better and better, can't go wrong with new-new and just trying to get closer to original then it is now, never going to be a show car or trailer queen, It will be used and driven....

Then just use the 054 you have unless it needs a recore, when you get into numbers and date codes be prepared to OVERPAY for it .

The 054 was out if the car from 1981-2005. I just had it pressure tested. It was fine so I installed it and I have had no cooling problems with it. A nice core with the correct fins per inch is expensive and I don't think the average radiator shop will be able to get an OE type core? If it works, I wouldn't get it recored. If it's a nice original, maybe you could sell it for enough ( plus your cost savings of recoring) to buy a new repro?
new repro is about 1200 , he's not going to get that for one that needs to be restored , if he does ... at the buyer ...

JohnRR,
planning on recoring it to be on the safe side, I will probably install it and maybe something will come along in the mean time.
Anybody know of any 048's that are realistic in price, let me know.
Gibby
Please define "realistic".
There are two styles of 054 radiators, small font and large font, demand for either varies as does the price. Generally speaking the 048 is less common and much harder to find than either 054, you won't likely find anyone willing to trade you straight up for one. As far as restoration costs, Glen-ray makes the $1,200.00 reproductions (I'm a vendor for them), they are a VERY accurate first rate product. They also do the best restoration work you'll find on originals, (accurate looking cores and better cooling than original) usually costing about half as much as a new reproduction if you provide a good set of core tanks and side straps.

This ones for you John and please enjoy the laugh . My name is Mark and I'm a Mopar addict. It is my drug of choice. I've been informed that this disease is incurable. Last fall I paid 10K for an 048. Yes 10K ! I believe that's an all time record. At times it sickens me to see what some parts sell for but this is my hobby and if I can save a few bucks to buy what I want so be it. I always justify it by saying I could be pouring the money down the urinal or up in smoke. Of course the 048 came bolted to a barn fresh 1967 GTX. That 048 is going to be used in my 68 Charger when I install the new crate Hemi in it some day. Not too long ago, Bob at Glen-Ray hooked me up with a super great deal on an original correct 67 Hemi radiator for the 67 GTX (THANKS Bob!). Although it was a deal I couldn't refuse, I'm radiator poor now...I looked for a deal on an 048 for nearly 18 months and the cheapest one I found was $800.00 and most likely probably would have needed a core as it was completely original. The only other 048 I've seen for sale has been the 048 in the Moparts parts section for 1K. To the OP, if you have to have the correct numbers, sell the 054 and then pay the differnce and have Bob at Glen-Ray build you a new 048 you won't regret it . I sure miss the days of old combing the junkyards and usually finding the parts you needed, unfortunately those days are long behind us.

I'm laughing at you because you can't READ ... I said no one is going to pay 1K for an 054 needing a recore/restore ...
